Saab Key Programming
Saab cars manufactured since 1994 feature an immobilizer mechanism that is based on codes for keys. To add an additional key, you need a new transponder, as well as special programming. This is usually done at the dealer using a special Tech2 diagnostic tool.
It can be costly. This is why it is important to always keep a spare key in your possession.
Transponder key
The transponder is a type of key that is equipped with an electronic chip. The chip transmits a signal when the key is placed in the ignition. The car will then check the signal to see if it matches the one in the key. If the signals match it will open itself and start. This is a great way to stop auto theft and keep your vehicle secure from thieves.
Transponder keys could be a popular addition to cars, but they're not as safe as traditional metal keys. While the metal parts of a traditional key could be cut and copied, a transponder is protected by an electronic chip. The chip is a unique code that's programmed into a car's computer order to identify it.
When a Saab key fob is used the car recognizes it and allows it to turn on. However, it is only able to do so if the key fob has a non-modified chip that has been programmed to match the original. The car will not start in the event that the key is not programmed to match.
It is crucial to have an extra Saab key. This is especially important especially if you live in a rural area that is home to many car thieves. The good news is that you can get a replacement key for your Saab without having to go to an auto dealership and pay the hefty prices they ask. You can get an original key made on the spot at a fraction of the cost you would pay at the dealership.
Wired key
Saab cars typically come with two keys when new. If you only have one, it is best to acquire an additional key fob as quickly as you can, because if you lose it, your car will require the replacement of a CIM unit, and the locking cylinders have to be replaced. This can be costly particularly for used cars.
The next step is connecting the wires for columns and rows to your microcontroller. This is the most challenging part of the project and will require a great amount of soldering. There's no standard way to do this, but it is crucial to plan the way you'll route and solder the columns and rows. There are 22 microcontroller wires and pins that you can connect to this keyboard. It has 5 rows and 17 column.
After the columns and rows are soldered, it's the time to connect them to the key switches. Solder a diode to each key switch pin. This will protect the pins from current, thus preventing them from being shortened. The diode allows current to only flow in only one direction. It has a visual indicator of a black line that indicates which direction current will flow.
Sanabria states that a number of the tools that are sold in auto parts stores, like the Autel MaxiIM IM608PRO and IM508, can help shoppers or DIY customers to program replacement keys and restore the immobilizer's data. The tools plug into the OBD port and automatically guide the user through the process, making it more simple than replacing the computer inside the vehicle.
Jump starting the battery
Most people keep an assortment of tools in their trunk to jump-start a vehicle in an emergency, but it may not be the best idea for vehicles that are newer. These vehicles are equipped with digital and computer systems that communicate with one another. A voltage surge when batteries are connected to another could cause damage to the components and render your vehicle unusable.
Start the vehicle you are using and allow it to run for around two minutes before connecting the cables to the non-working one. Attach the red clip to the positive terminal of the battery that is good. (It will say "POS" or "+".) Attach the other end of the black cable to an unpainted, clean metal surface underneath the disabled vehicle's hood. An engine block is a good option. Don't connect the black cable to the negative terminal on the dead battery, as this could cause an ignition spark that ignites the gasoline in the engine bay.

Once saab replacement keys are connected, you can begin the car and let it run for about five minutes. Then, disconnect them in reverse. The battery in your Saab 9-3 is recharged as you drive. It takes a while for it to fall back. You should consider purchasing another key fob as soon as possible. The replacement of the one that works requires the installation and programming of a new computer chip.
Replacement Case
Saab owners often only have one car key, and if that is lost, they'll be charged. The reason for this is that it's costly to purchase a new key, and that involves replacing the CIM (Column Integration Module) or TWICE on older models, plus programming. It is best to have a second key in case of theft or other disaster the best solution is to purchase an extra key as soon as you are able to. But don't buy a used key, even it's "new." Keys that are claimed-new from sellers selling aftermarket keys won't be effective and are almost guaranteed to fail in the crucial moment.
The dealer will charge the highest dollar if you only have one working key. We can reset and reprogram the computer's EEEPROM in order to get it ready to accept a replacement key without replacing the entire system. This can save you a great deal of money. It's also a lot cheaper than waiting until you lose your one key.
